So after weeks of research, I've finally figured out what I'm going to do with the cloth diaper situation. I found an awesome website which I highly recommend if you are even considering cloth diapers. It's called Jillian's drawers and they have a fantastic program called Changing Diapers, Changing Minds. It costs $150 (plus $11 shipping) up front for a wide variety of sample cloth diapers that are all brand new that you can trial for 21 days. At the end of the 3 weeks, you send everything back and they refund your credit card $140. But the best part about the whole thing is, you get to trial multiple brands of not only diapers but inserts as well.
Here's a list of everything that the kit includes:
-2 bleached Chinese prefolds
-2 unbleached Indian prefolds
-1 snappi
-1 bumGenius fitted bamboo diaper
-1 Thirsties v2.0 cover
-1 Fuzzi Buns cover with microfiber insert
-1 bumGenius one size v3.0 with 2 microfiber inserts
-1 Dreameze Organic All-in-One diaper
-1 bumGenius v3.0 All-in-One diaper
-1 GroBaby Shell with 1 snap-in soaker & 1 booster
-2 additional GroBaby Snap-in soakers
-5 sheets of flushable liners
I really feel like this is the perfect opportunity to test snaps vs. velcro, all-in-ones vs. covers & inserts, hemp vs. cotton inserts, etc. This seriously takes all of my worry and frustration about choosing a type of cloth diaper away!
Also, a big thank you to mom for helping me do alot of this research (and for VERY graciously offering to pay the initial fee) and trying to calm me down when I would get totally overwhelmed with all of this new information.
As well as a big thank you to my friend, Amanda who was very encouraging to start using cloth diapers and she gave me some excellent pointers as far as where to look on the internet and her own personal experiences with her little man. I would also like to add that Amanda is in the process of starting her own online store through the Etsy website! She will be making all kinds of cool hand-made items and she does custom orders--she is even considering making Buffalo Bills blankets for the kids (okay, okay. It's really for Greg, just don't tell him) for Christmas! So if you get time, you should definitely check her out here. Just keep in mind that she doesn't have too much (if anything yet) listed on her site because she's trying to get pictures of all of her items PLUS she is a stay at home mom to a cute little baby boy named Marcus so she's a busy lady! But be sure to check back once she gets things up and running!

Last night we didn't know PUL so I researched it, it is polyurethane laminate (outside fabric that is waterproof!). It was very interesting to see the evolution of diapers from when you were a baby. We thought we hit the big time when we found snap diapers that were single layers and required 'rubber' pants!
Should have been studying but it was more fun with the kids. Have to really work this weekend.
Oh yeah, you need to update his vocabulary. He has some really cute sayings. My favorite game is "did you see that" when we come home from Betty's.
Love,
Nan and Papa Jimbo
Good luck - I hope it works and you find something you love! :) I told you about JilliansDrawers - what no shout out for me? JK I tease! :)
Oops! So sorry, Emily! I had forgotten that the JD suggestion came from you.
Big shout-out to my friend Emily for the suggestion!
That JD trial is great! I hope you have fun with it. Plus big bonus for me... JD is only 45 mins away. hehe. Oh you will like hemp inserts better. MF tends to hold stink more. You should check out ArtsyFartsyFooFoo on EcoNest on Hyenacart.com She doesn't have anything up now, but stocks twice a month. Those are the ONLY inserts we use for our pockets. Not sure if I told you about her yet or not.
But I really want to thank you for the shout out! I will be posting stuff really soon! Oh, I gotta know asap about fabric for ya so I can pick it up while it's on sale. :)
