Dream a little dream

So I met with a wonderful lactation consultant today because I REALLY want to do better with breastfeeding with baby G. Brock is a good eater now, but breast feeding was torture and I don't want to re-live that experience. Anyway, the woman was absolutely wonderful! She met with me for an hour today and gave me a TON of wonderful (& helpful) information. She also de-bunked a bunch of myths that I have been hearing lots of lately (you should rough-up your nipples before the baby is born) and she also sided with me 100% on alot of the concerns I had with Brock. Like, when his blood sugar was a tad low (only 4 points below the lower end of normal at birth) they wouldn't let me try to feed him and they insisted on giving him formula that has dextrose in it! Of course he didn't want the boob! The formula was super sweet and the bottle was easier!
Also, based on what I described, she said that it didn't sound like he was latching on correctly. This is what I thought but the lactation consultant at Boone came by to see me one day (the first full day that Brock had been alive and I had been up for going on 48 hours) and watched me hold him and said, "Looks like your doing it right," and then she left.
Anyway, she armed me with loads of good info and lots of references for helpful and informative books. She also makes house/hospital calls but if you see her in her office, it's free!!! So, I told her that I would like for her to come by once in the hospital after baby G is born, just so that we have a good foundation and then I would come by the office if I was having any problems.
The picture above is the breast pump that I have been drooling over since this afternoon. The only trouble? It costs mucho dinero that I will have a hard time convincing Greg to part with. So, if any of you are feeling generous . . . just kidding. Unless you want to. No, I could never! Wait a minute! Yes I could! Pony up, ladies!! Bwahahahaha!

Just for argument's sake, here is what the website had to say about the breastpump from heaven:

With Freestyle™ - Freedom is Born. This one pound, daily use, double breastpump will completely meet your current and future breastpumping needs. Breastpumps should only be used after breastfeeding is well established or when a medical condition prohibits baby at breast. The 2-Phase Expression® technology integrated into Freestyle is designed to be more like baby and can deliver more milk in less time when pumping at Maximum Comfort Vacuum™. The mom-friendly features such as the backlit LCD display, pump session timer, and convenient hands-free option make it the industry’s first truly mobile breastpump.

I can't believe Greg won't part with the money. I seem to remember when Brock was born, he bought you a camera, jewelry and many other things. Tell him, come on, the pump costs way less than that camera!!!

Ha! I knew that you would be the first to post on here this morning! You are an addict! And while that's true about the camera, he get's something out of it. The breast pump will be strictly between me and Baby G (and the next kiddos that come along). I am hoping for more jewelry though. Ruby's are my signature stone!

The freestyle is amazing! This is what I have and I love it! I can do almost anything while I am pumping away! :)
