Our fun-filled weekend!

Starting with his school birthday party on Thursday. I made chocolate cupcakes filled with cream cheese filling. Yum!

On Friday, we took a trip to the Springfield zoo. Which, I highly recommend, especially if you have small children. Even though it was a 3 hour drive from our house, it was MUCH less crowded than the St. Louis zoo. They didn't have as many animal exhibits though, so if you have older children, they may get a little bored. But, it was cheap (kids under 3 are free and adults were only $7/ticket). My other suggestion? Bring a stroller because the trails are pretty hilly and winding (thank you, Southern Missouri) and there is no way that Brock would have lasted more than a few minutes walking, er running. And because we were in the area, we stopped at Lambert's (home of the throwed rolls for those that don't know it) for a late lunch. This place is so much fun! They literally throw rolls at you throughout the meal! And if you go, you should go early and hungry! The long wait is well worth the tremendous amount of food that they serve. While you are waiting for your food people come around with huge bowls of fried okra, fried potatoes and onions, hush puppies and several other things that I can't even remember right now but those are freebie appetizers! Seriously. So good.

Saturday was his actual birthday! I still cannot believe that my first-born child is now a TWO-YEAR OLD!!!!! My oh my, how the time flies! He is even saying, "two" when asked how old he is and he attempts to hold up two fingers and it is so cute!

And speaking of time flying by, Adrianna turned one month old on Sunday!

(The giraffe in this picture was a gift from Brock. He "bought" it for sissy at the zoo gift shop!)

I also (finally) got Adrianna's birth announcements finished:

And, the grand finale . . . Brock's second birthday party! We started off with cake & ice cream, followed by a flurry of wrapping paper and finished with a good old fashioned beating of a box of candy covered with tissue paper!

OK Seriously, the weather was perfect (which you forgot to mention) and tons of family and friends always make the party fun. He was so cute opening his presents and dragging around the empty Sponge Bob after all the kiki was gone. And little sissy, I bet she didn't know there were so many people in the world much less her world! I think everybody except Papa and I got to hold her for longer than 1 minute. They were both dressed so cute as well.
Have a good weekend.
Love,
Papa and "D"
