Today was our first ultrasound with baby #2! Although I was riddled with anxiety (you just never know until you see it for yourself), we were still really excited to go for a couple of reasons. #1) The most obvious; we wanted to make sure that the baby was "really in there" & that it had a good strong heartbeat, #2) We were excited to take Brock so he could "see" his baby brother/sister. The first part went as we expected. We did the ultrasound, got to see the heartbeat, & everything looks good! The baby is measuring 8 week, 3 days & I am 8 weeks, 1 day. Do I smell another early deliver? The second part of our appointment was not as smooth. Brock cried the entire time that we were in the exam room because he wanted to dig in the trash, and to play with the equipment, and to pull cords out of the electrical outlets, and he wanted me to hold him. Because of the nature of the necessary position, let's say that was not an option. We even bought him a special toy that he could play with during the appointment if he got fussy. He was not having any of it. He only wanted mommy and I'm pretty sure he was convinced that the doctor was hurting mommy. And in his defense, even though it is a magical time, it is still, at best uncomfortable when they are doing the things that they are doing. At any rate, it was wonderful to see the baby and to know that there is only one (whew!) and that it has a strong & healthy heartbeat! I am already looking for volunteers for babysitters for my next appointment! Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
