Week 19 OB checkup

I went back to my doctor today for a routine check-up and everything continues to look good! Unfortunately (and a large thanks to my husband bringing home 5--that's right f-i-v-e bags of Easter candy last weekend) I have gained 4 pounds this month, which makes my last post about only having gained 1 lb invalid! But, the doctor ASSURES me that weight gain during pregnancy is normal and since I haven't thrown up on a daily basis (like I did with Brock) and I haven't lost any weight this time, I guess I will trust her. But, she IS a doctor, so I am still wary.

Also, my uterus is measuring exactly where it should be and there was no protein, glucose, etc. in my urine. But, I did freakin' pee on my hand today! Ewww. At least I took two wet naps in the stall with me.

Good news on the medication front: Dr. W gave me the go-ahead for OTC Zantac and I can up my Colace to two per day to relieve the trouble in the back door (if you know what I mean) and I know that certain people will really enjoy that tidbit (Megan)!

I also told her about the other night at work when I had what I thought was a little Braxton Hicks contraction. She said that it was entirely possible and as long as they don't last more than 1 or 2 at a time and that they go away and are not happening everyday then I was fine. But she did say that I could call her office anytime and they would tell me if I should come in and get hooked up to a monitor if they thought it was something I should get checked out. This is very different and very welcoming compared to my previous OB. And I would like to point out two things here: 1) I took the high road and did not mention his name & 2) I did not swear, which is rare when I discuss him.

And, the best part was that I got to hear that beautiful little heartbeat again! She started looking on the right side and didn't hear anything at first and I told her that the baby kicks me quite a bit on the left and as soon as she moved the doppler, we heard a good healthy heartbeat at a rate of 140!

My next appointment is next week (Wednesday) and I will be posting updated ultrasound pictures! It will be so exciting to see how much this little baby has grown from a little gummy bear to a 1/2 grown baby! And, the place that is doing our ultrasound has a 3D machine! Hooray! And sorry to disappoint, we are NOT finding out the sex of this baby so don't beg or badger me. Save it for Greg, it was his idea!

HUMMMM. Well, 140 seems familiar for one of my daughters (the other one was 160 which negates the fast and slow determines the sex of the baby). No more chocolate, I am surprised the heart rate wasn't 170+. More water, less caffine will probably help with other things as well (if you know what I mean!),isn't that what you always tell me.
I can't believe no cute Brock stories, like saying his ABCs or his Quack, Quack story.
Most of all thanks for the compliment today, but it was kind of freaky, if I am only 43 that would make me how old when you were born???

Well, all I can say is the heartbeat is total myth. The nurse kept saying Chris would be a girl based on his heartrate but he certainly wasn't. Glad the doc gave the go ahead for the meds. A 3d pic would be very cool to see.
